Xfinity's new storm-ready Wi-Fi will work during power outag

It's happened to the best of us: you're in the middle of doing some work, and just as you're about to finish it and meet the deadline, a power outage occurs and your router dies. Even if you were using a laptop and it didn't turn off as a result, there is still no internet because your router is plugged into an outlet. Hurricanes have been getting worse over the past few years, and if a storm just knocks out your power, Xfinity wants to keep you online with its new Wi-Fi. The Xfinity Storm-Ready Wi-Fi is essentially a mobile Wi-Fi router that operates over a cellular connection in the event of a power outage. When not in an emergency, the Storm-Ready Wi-Fi can function as a regular Wi-Fi extender, capable of Wi-Fi 6 and using the Xfinity 10G network. When a storm causes your power grid to die, the device operates as normal with a 4-hour battery backup and a cellular connection.
